My Personal Top 10 albums

From 10 to 1

10. "Holy Waters"  Donna Ulisse-  Donna, Rick and Kathy were a joy to meet and hang with at IBMA.  Her 2008 album "Walk This Mountain Down" was also on my list.

 9. "Celebrating With Friends"  Johnny Gimble- 83 and still performing, Johnny features some of the best of Austin TX musicians on new and classic material including Jason Roberts, Dale Watson, Jesse Dayton and granddaughter Emily.

  8.  "Ghost Train The Studio B sessions"  Marty Stuart-Marty continues to respect his elders including Warner Mack and Johnny Cash.

  7. "On the Brink of a Dream"  Mark Brinkman-After a few years as a writer to the best of Bluegrass acts Mark can no longer say "I Am UnWorthy"  Loved the song about eating and life on the farm.

  6. "Sounds Like Heaven To Me"  Lou Reid and Carolina- Following up my top pick of 2009 with an album of Bluegrass Gospel in a positive vain.

  5. "Twistable Turnable Man A Tribute to Shel Siverstein"- From about 1968 to the late 70's his music was everywhere on pop and country charts. A couple cuts are weak here but the 4 tracks I programed on Bus of Real Country did fair in ratings particuarly "This Guitar Is For Sale".

  4. "The Famous Lefty Flynns"  The Grascals - Love the title track and the version of "Last Train To Clarksville". Best of luck as these guys lauch their own label with a Mayberry tribute in early 2011

  3. "The Boxcars"  The Boxcars- This album grows on me with every listen.  I hope our IBMA folks consider "In God's Hands"  for a gospel nod.

  2. "Dailey and Vincent Salute the Songs of the Statler Brothers"  Dailey and Vincent- If you have followed these guys since 2008 you would know their respect for the Statlers. Cracker Barrell is a great fit to their marketing.

  1. "Legacy"  Peter Rowlan Bluegrass Band- Glad to have Peter back in Bluegrass. I'm hooked on those double word refrains.
