Jerry Reed had some fun records

Kudos to Tom Lewis and the members of the Austin Music family with the Shuffle5 label. Their music is as good or better then most commercial releases. I feel honored to program some of the last work of Gary Claxton and get behind the Carper Family. I've known Beth Chrisman since the night I met her at Ginnys a couple years ago. (I also first met Sunny Sweeney that way)

Lot's of new music added this weekend and a busy week ahead.

Tuesday is the announcement of the Country Music Hall of Fame class of 2011

Wednesday is Texas Independence Day

Sunday is the Induction party for the Texas Heritage Association. This years class includes Cindy Walker, Delbert McClinton, Gary Nicholson, and LeeRoy Parnell

This track from the Mayfield Brothers was recorded at Norman Petty's studio in Clovis NM between 1955 and 56. I plan to add another track soon from the earlier recordings. Eddie Mayfield had several stints as a lead singer for Bill Monroe.

I'm off Wednesday for a week of Honky Tonk in Austin including the Dead Sweethearts Ball. Keep up the listening hours folks.
